Yandoit Primary School is situated 20 km north of Daylesford and 15km south of Newstead and has an enrolment of 7. The school was established in 1861 to teach many nationalities of settlers and gold fossickers in the rapidly growing community. The school is the centre of a rural community and has keen parental involvement. Multi-age groups operate, and there is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. Yandoit is comprised of a major building with a separate art room and a large lawn area for physical education. It has a garden with local native shrubs and flowers all maintained by parents and friends and has extensive playground equipment to cater for all ages.
